Off the GridOff the Grid Time | How much of the day are you plugged in? Do you consciously set aside off line time, or does it happen whenever it happens?

I can easily say that my off line time is set for first thing in the morning. I follow a routine of hiking for the first two hours every morning. Although my route changes daily (I pick routes at random), I find that my hiking routine and meditating & planning the day while hiking is set for those two hours. I find that time, my time to go off the grid, commune with nature, use my senses, and let my mind wander where it wants to go. I meditate, pray, think, and plan during that time. I list the things I need to do. I plan the day ahead and I also work on the issues I have at hand.

Having my body do the work on automatic frees my mind to work at a leisurely pace. My mind has a chance to rest and recharge while my body exercises and gets fresh air. It helps me to exercise, lose weight and cleanse my body of toxins.

Having a daily goal of hiking allows my body to burn excess calories and burn fat. I find that I’m losing weight and shrinking in size as th e days and miles accumulate. I have already achieved my goal of hiking 800 miles by year end and I’m on track to break my revised goal of 1,000 miles. It feels good and the reshaping of my body is helping to keep ion exercising on a daily basis.

This daily exercise has allowed me to change my habits such as eating less and eating healthier. Changing my life style has allowed me to get healthier as I can walk for long periods of time without exerting myself and pushing my daily goals has changed my attitude to a healthier better me.

I know I started this log as setting aside time but I find that this setting aside time has changed my life for the better both physically and mentally. It has made me a better person.

What is your off the grid time?
